Lead Groundskeeper

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the buildings, property and grounds at the Tasting Room facility including but not limited to landscaping, janitorial, minor maintenance, and event setup and breakdown. They will be responsible for the installation of new landscaping systems including minor grading, soil preparation, small retaining walls, irrigation, & planting. The Lead Groundskeeper will provide work leadership to one full-time janitorial employee and temporary employees on an as needed basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs grounds keeping work, maintaining and caring for assigned landscaped areas

• Landscaping will include maintaining existing planting, irrigation, and landscape structures and responsible for adding new planting, irrigation, and landscape structures

o Lawn area

o Planters

o Levees

o Tree trimming

• Cultivates and fertilizes lawns, plants, shrubs and trees

• Prepares soil for sowing seeds, waters turf and ornamental ground covers, sprays and reseeds turf

• Operates grounds keeping equipment including, but not limited to, power and lawnmowers, power-edgers and blowers

• Sweeps and maintains sidewalks, driveways, building entrances and other assigned areas

• Responsible for all plant irrigation systems

• Responsible for the completion of general maintenance/janitorial work as outlined below:

o Ensuring the buildings, offices, restrooms are clean

o Ensuring the decks, eaves, patio area, and parking lot are clean and safe for use

o Responsible for minor maintenance at the facility:

• Changing light bulbs

• HVAC filters

• Minor repairs to plumbing systems

• Ensure waste water system is properly diverted

• Ensure waste water tank is emptied when full

• Communicate with Hamilton Road maintenance staff on all major maintenance items

• Coordinate with pest control company

• Minor maintenance needed or work requested by someone at the facility

• Maintain teak furniture, inspect for any loose parts

• Provides work leadership to janitorial staff through assignment of work, review of progress, monitoring of results and training

• Coordinates and may perform custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping and waxing floors; dusting and polishing woodwork, maintaining premises in a clean and orderly manner

• Operates commonly used types of power cleaning and polishing equipment, fixtures and equipment; washing windows, walls and lavatory facilities

• Assists in the movement and relocation of furniture, equipment and machinery as required

• Events

o Set up and clean-up for all onsite events

o Store and maintain all event equipment including grills, tables/chairs, umbrellas, lights, etc

o Coordinate event parking staffing

• General

o Deliver mail between Rd 144 and Hamilton on an assigned schedule

o Take recycling, glass and cardboard from Rd 144 to Hamilton

o Special projects as requested by the Bogle Family

• Bandwagon

o May help coordinate janitorial staff when assisting with Bandwagon shipments

• Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 years’ experience in landscaping & minor maintenance

• Complete knowledge of landscaping systems including piping materials, fittings, sprinkler systems, low voltage control wiring, & planting materials

• Ability and experience using power tools

• Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, & HVAC systems

• 1-2 years’ experience leading or supervising employees

• Self-starter, who takes initiative and seeks continuous improvement

• Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task

• Ability to provide excellent customer service

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions in and around a winery/tasting room can be hot or cold, wet, slippery and noisy, and involves exposure to potentially hazardous conditions. Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, bend, kneel and twist occasionally and stand for long periods of time – up to 8-10 hours. The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and key responsibilities of this position. Maintenance Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of skilled mechanic duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and modify mechanical equipment and facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Repairs and maintains all production machinery, tools, storage tanks and systems.

• Assembles and installs mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and systems.

• Performs preventative maintenance on all winery equipment, HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment, waste water handling equipment, and plumbing equipment

• Performs limited installation of new equipment and systems.

• Performs facility maintenance including all buildings, grounds, process wastewater systems, and drainage systems.

• Performs preventive maintenance program on selected winery equipment systems.

• Oversees complicated repairs, modifications, and installations on buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles as directed by the facilities maintenance manager.

• Troubleshoots equipment or systems and makes recommendations for required repairs.

• Must be able to complete work orders including tracking parts and materials required to complete the work order.

• Other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required

• Must have Journeyman level knowledge and experience in Electrical, Plumbing, machine/winery equipment repair and stainless/aluminum fabrication.

• 5 years winery experience or Industrial Maintenance required. Well rounded knowledge of winery operations is helpful.

• PLC experience preferred

• Must know proper use of safety equipment and safety procedures.

• Ability to conduct web searches and use Outlook required.

• Must be able to stand, walk, grasp, push and pull up to 100% of your day. Must be able to bend, squat, climb and reach frequently. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• May require weekend and shift work with required overtime during peak period

Forklift Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Operates a powered forklift to move materials throughout production, warehouse, storage and shipping/receiving areas. May perform minor servicing and maintenance of powered lifts such as fueling, washing, and greasing. Stacks and palletizes materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Loading and unloading trucks of wine, glass and materials

•Accurately supplying bottling line with corks capsules and glass. Works with Bottling Line Manager or line lead to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of changing the line for different varietals

•Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of case and dry goods

•May perform data entry as needed

•Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Experience required: 3 years lift operating a lift in a fast paced environment

•Education required: Basic reading, writing and numerical ability

•Computer skills required: basic knowledge. Data entry skills a plus

•Prior forklift certification required

•Travel requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance and must be insurable under the company’s auto policy

•Must be quality focused, punctual and reliable

•Must be team oriented and willing to assist others

•Available to work swing or day shifts

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The bottling/warehouse departments are noisy environments when the bottling line is running. PPE is required. Must be able to stand, reach, grasp, push, and pull for extended periods of time. Limited bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching are required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Part Time Tasting Room Staff

POSITION SUMMARY:
Tasting room employees are the public relations ambassadors of Bogle Winery. Our Tasting Room staff greet our guests and provide assistance as they sample and purchase wine and merchandise. As a liaison between Bogle and the public, tasting room employees must demonstrate warmth, a sense of integrity, efficiency, and a growing knowledge about Bogle wines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures a positive guest experience by providing exemplary customer service.

• Greet/acknowledge every guest within 30 seconds of entering tasting room.

• Pour wines using measured pour spouts.

• Responsible service of alcohol which includes checking identification of any guests appearing to be 30 years old or less as well as never serving wine to any guest that exhibits signs of being over the legal limit.

• Selling wine and merchandise using a computer based cash register program.

• Provide accurate information about Bogle Winery and the Sacramento Delta.

• Provide accurate information about our wine club and encourage guests to sign up.

• Restock wines and merchandise at the end of each shift and as otherwise necessary.

• Carry out customer purchases using hand cart when necessary.

• Maintain a clean and safe tasting room, restrooms and picnic grounds at all times.

• Periodically ensure that the picnic area is free of litter, glasses/bottles etc.

• Perform clean-up duties at the end of each shift including disposal of all garbage and recycling.

• Utilize proper safety techniques at all times (i.e. hand-cart, lifting, glass handling etc.)

• Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Experience working in a public relations or hospitality capacity is a plus. Wine knowledge is preferred.

• Proven customer service focus utilizing tact and poise to a wide variety of personalities at all times.

• Enthusiasm, friendly demeanor, and an outgoing personality with a good sense of humor are required.

• Presents professionally, dressing appropriately for the position.

• Capable of multi-tasking while working in a challenging fast paced environment.

• Must be willing and available to work frequent weekends and holidays.

• Computer skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and experience with retail POS operation and cash handling.

• Travel requirements: May include occasional local travel to off-site wine tastings. Must have valid driver’s license, and be insurable by the company’s insurance provider.

MINIMUM SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be available to attend quarterly staff meetings.

• Must work at least 6 weekend shifts per quarter.

• Must work at least 4 holiday shifts per year. A list of holiday shifts will be provided by the manager at the first meeting each year.

• Must work at least 1 shift during the annual Port Weekend event in February

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:: Must be able to lift and carry at least 45 pounds frequently. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to bend, twist, reach, push, pull on a frequent basis.
