The 2011 growing season challenged grape growers and winemakers alike in California. With cool temperatures and a shorter season, fruit was harvested earlier than many previous years. What surprised Bogle winemakers was the concentration and complexity our Merlot grapes exhibited, despite the growing challenges. The resulting wine is yet another delicious crowd-pleaser, sure to be enjoyed by many.
On the nose, notes of tea leaf, cherry cola and earth tones add richness and depth to the first impression of the wine. Bright cherry, red currant and ripe fig mingle with toasty herbal tones, all combining to create a silky and smooth mouthfeel. To perfectly compliment the fruit, the wine was aged in American oak for 12 months, creating firm tannins that balance the supple and lingering finish. |
